BOD explained
If you are not connected to mains drainage you have three choices.

A basic septic tank simply stores untreated sewage solids ready for collection by tanker. Liquid overflow is smelly and potentially hazardous.

A super septic tank pumps air (including oxygen) through sewage which substantially reduces the pollution and smell content of the overflow.

A tank with integral biological treatment kit produces clear, odourless, and harmless overflow. The choice is yours.
